I was so happy to have found Myself Belts! I wrote about self-help skills yesterday, and this is a great way for autistic kids to put their belts on by themselves. Jake still has trouble tying shoelaces and using buckles. We are able to use Velcro shoes until he gets the hang out of tying his shoes, but using a belt has been a problem.

He’s lost a lot of weight since starting the medication Vyvanse, so he needs a belt for his school pants.

This belt is different from any that I have ever seen. It snaps around the first loop, then you thread it through the belt loops like a regular belt. After that you just attach the Velcro and it’s on!  He was able to do it by himself.  And it’s also great for any child that is just learning how to dress themselves, or for adults that have a disability that makes it hard for them to use a regular belt.

Jake always gets proud of himself when he’s able to do something for himself and this was no exception. Plus, it’s SO much easier when he has to use the restroom at school.

Myself Belts come in all sizes (which I’m really happy about because Jake is far from a toddler) – little boys and girls, teens, and adults. Plus they have super cute designs for the little kids, so they can find the perfect color or pattern that they like. Most of the belts sell for $14.95 on their website.
