This past Christmas Santa brought a play kitchen along with some play food. I want to tell you how great the “peel-able” and cutting foods are!
The first set that I’m going to talk about is iPlay’s Garden Fresh Fruit & Veggies. It’s currently listed on Amazon for $16.45 plus free shipping if you have Amazon Prime. This set has an onion, cauliflower, cabbage, corn, an orange, a peach, a pineapple, a banana, and peas. It also come with a plastic knife and a tote bag. They are made of hard plastic and have Velcro dots that keep the pieces together. This set was a huge hit on Christmas, and she still plays with it everyday! She doesn’t use the knife yet, but she pulls the pieces apart and puts them back together. I think the orange is her favorite, she loves to “peel” it and the take the sections apart.
The other set is the Melissa and Doug Cutting Food Box. This set is currently listed on Amazon for $16.23 with free Super Saving Shipping if you spend $25. This set is all wooden and comes with a loaf of bread, slices of bread, an apple, a green pepper, a cucumber, a tomato, a carrot, a cutting board, a knife and a wooden crate. There’s nothing to “peel” in this set, but she enjoys pulling everything apart.
Both of these sets can be used for so much! Identifying different colors, naming foods, counting, fine motor skills, and of course pretend play. These foods can even be used to teach fractions when the kids get older. When you use the knife to cut through the foods, the Velcro makes a neat crunching sound.
I really recommend these toys. They are pretty inexpensive especially considering that they get played with every day. Even my 10 year old has fun with these.
Rating:

Both of these sets get 5 stars!

They look like they are great 3D puzzles for kids to experiment with! Cool. Thanks for sharing.
We have the Melissa & Doug one and you’re right –they’re a “staple” whenever my kids are cooking away in their kitchen center.

This looks like fun.
I have a fun little something for you on my blog.
Thanks for sharing the link – but unfortunately it seems to be down? Does anybody have a mirror or another source? Thanks
